During the day, May 9, 76 combat clashes of the Defense Forces with russian invaders were recorded. The most attacks - 20 - were repelled on the Avdiivka axis.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this in its operational update on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In total, the enemy launched 5 missile and 72 air strikes, carried out 74 attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and settlements. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are wounded among the civilian population. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation is without significant changes. No signs of the formation of offensive groups of the enemy were found.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, attacks settlements from the territory of the russian federation, increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an air strike in the area of the village of Kostiantynivka, Sumy Region. More than 10 settlements were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks by the enemy, among them Khrinivka, Chernihiv Region; Myropillia, Sumy Region.
On the Kupiansk axis, our soldiers repelled 7 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Region; Stelmakhivka, Luhansk Region, where the enemy tried to improve the tactical position. About 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Region.
On the Lyman axis, the Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novosadove, Torske, Donetsk Region and in the area of the Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk Region. The enemy launched an airstrike near the village of Lyman, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements suffered from artillery and mortar attacks, among them Nevske, Luhansk Region; Terny, Yampolivka, Torske, Donetsk Region.
On the Bakhmut axis, 16 attacks were repelled by our soldiers in the areas of the settlements of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Region; Verkhniokamianske, Novyi, Ivanivske, Stupochky and Klishchiivka, Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy also launched air strikes in the areas of the settlements of Druzhba, Spirne, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Region.
On the Avdiivka axis, our defenders repelled 20 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Kalynove, Novooleksandrivka, Novoselivka Persha, Umanske, Yasnobrodivka, Netailove, Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to oust our units from the occupied borders. About 20 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks, among them Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Novopokrovske and Umanske, Donetsk Region.
On the Novopavlivka axis, the Defense Forces continue to deter the enemy in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Vodiane and Urozhaine, Donetsk Region, where the enemy tried to break through the defenses of our troops 6 times. The enemy launched an air strike in the area of the village of Bohoiavlenka, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire of the invaders, among them Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Donetsk Region.
On the Orikhiv axis, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 16 times in the area of Staromaiorske, Donetsk Region and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia Region. About 20 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks, among them Bilohiria, Robotyne, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia Region.
On the Kherson axis, the enemy does not abandon the intention to oust our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. So, during the day, the enemy carried out 2 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our troops near the settlement of Krynky, Kherson Region. About 20 settlements were shelled by artillery and were under mortar attacks, among them Krynky, Tiahynka, Kachkarivka, Kizomys, Stanislav, Kherson Region.
During the day, the air forces of the Defense Forces and missile forces units attacked 1 air defense means and 17 areas of concentration of enemy personnel.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Defense Forces eliminated another 1,300 russian invaders per day, thus the total losses of the enemy's army in personnel since the beginning of the large-scale invasion amounted to about 478,730 soldiers. Also, the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 11 tanks, 35 AFVs and 23 artillery systems of the invaders.
