Ihor Yukhymovych Smilianskyi is the Director General of Ukrposhta.
Place of birth
He was born on October 6, 1975 in the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Odesa Region.
In 1995, together with his parents, he moved to the U.S. and received American citizenship.
Education
In 1992, he entered the Odesa State University of Economics at the faculty of international marketing. After studying for three years, he transferred to a university in the U.S., where in 1999 he graduated from the Pace University School of Business (New York, Pace University in New York) with a specialty of accountant-auditor.
Subsequently, he was awarded the law degree at the George Washington University School of Law, and the MBA degree at the Georgetown University.
Career
In 1998-1999, he worked as an accountant at Cantor Fitzgerald.
In 1999-2001, he worked as a senior tax specialist at KPMG, and also worked at City Bank and various law firms.
From September 2005 to January 2008, Smilianskyi worked as a senior consultant and project manager in Ukraine and russia at The Boston Consulting Group.
In 2008, he worked as the director of asset integration at Promsvyazbank.
In 2010-2011, Smilianskyi managed the merger and acquisition of of Dongorbank’s FUIB, and in 2014, the merger of FUIB with Renaissance Capital Bank.
In 2012 - 2014, he worked as a consultant in the moscow office of The Boston Consulting Group.
In 2015, Smilianskyi worked at the auditing company KPMG.
Since April 20, 2016, Smilianskyi has held the position of the Director General of Ukrposhta.
From October 2019 to October 2020, he held the position of a member of the supervisory board of the Ukroboronprom state concern.
In 2023, compared to 2022, the Ukrposhta joint-stock company reduced the loss by 37% to UAH 796 million, increasing the income by 12% to UAH 11.6 billion.
