The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the information about the need to mobilize another 500,000 people is currently not true, and the real figure is much lower.
He informed about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"After reviewing our internal resources and clarifying the combat composition of the Armed Forces, this figure [500,000 people - ed.] was significantly reduced. We expect that we will have enough people capable of defending the Motherland. We are talking not only about the mobilized, but also about volunteers," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
Syrskyi reported that the process of re-estimating the number of certain military units that do not take part in hostilities is currently underway, based on an audit of their activities. This made it possible to release thousands of servicemen and direct them to strengthen combat units.
"However, it is necessary to refrain from extremes. In all the armies of the world there are personnel who do not participate in combat operations, but provide combat units. This is an equally important part of the work. The war that we are forced to wage against the russian invaders - this is a war of attrition, a war of logistics. So the importance of the effectiveness of the rear units cannot be underestimated. It is about the system of providing troops with food and ammunition, about repair units, about medical facilities and about many other things. These people contribute to the effectiveness of combat operations," explained the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As previously reported, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, also said that the situation at the front remains difficult: the enemy is trying to reach the borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, while suffering heavy losses among personnel.
