A court has in absentia sentenced the former minister of education and science Dmytro Tabachnyk to 15 years in prison.
The Security Service of Ukraine has announced this, Ukrainian News reports.
"Thanks to the evidence base of the Security Service, Dmytro Tabachnyk, the ex-minister of education and science, in absentia received 15 years, and Dmytro Vorona, the former head of the State Registration Service, in absentia received 12 years," the report said.
By court order, their property worth more than UAH 200 million was confiscated.
It is noted that both convicts are currently hiding in the territory of the russian federation and the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, where they conduct subversive activities against Ukraine.
They are in direct communication with Oleg Kozlov, personnel officer of the 9th department of the operational information department of the 5th service of the Federal Security Service of the russian federation.
With his coordination, Tabachnyk regularly provided the occupiers with his own forecasts on the development of the socio-political situation in Ukraine after the start of a full-scale invasion of the russian federation.
Also, at the direction of the aggressor, he advised Gauleiters Volodymyr Saldo and Yevhen Balytskyi on the conduct of pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied regions of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Regions.
Another task of Tabachnyk was to provide local collaborators with "methodological" assistance in reformatting the educational industry according to russian "standards."
For cooperation with the occupiers, the ex-minister was appointed "adviser" to Balytskyi and included in the local cell of the putin's united russia party.
The investigation found that Vorona was also an adviser to Balytskyi.
It was he who prepared an appeal to the head of the kremlin, in which he proposed to reward the russian military and collaborators who took part in the capture of territory in the south of Ukraine.
He also helped the invaders create the occupation bodies of the russian federation, in particular, to form a "staff" of like-minded people.
Subsequently, he became a "senator of the russian federation from the Zaporizhzhia Region" and moved to moscow.
In addition, both traitors are involved in numerous facts of looting the property of local farmers and the seizure of their enterprises.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the court found Tabachnyk and Vorona guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code:
- Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason committed under martial law);
- Part 1 of Art. 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state);
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).
The trial took place in a special trial in absentia (in the absence of the accused).
At the moment, comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring convicts to justice.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Tabachnyk was declared suspected of high treason for the help to Saldo and Balytskyi.
