The total state (direct and state-secured) debt of Ukraine in January compared to the previous month decreased by 0.29%, or by USD 0.42 billion, to USD 144.9 billion.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
State and state-secured debt at the end of January amounted to UAH 5,488.05 billion, or USD 144.9 billion, against UAH 5,519.48 billion, or USD 145.32 billion, a month earlier.
The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 5,154.47 billion (USD 136.09 billion) against UAH 5,188.07 billion (USD 136.59 billion) a month earlier.
At the same time, the direct foreign debt decreased from USD 94.79 billion to USD 93.78 billion for the month.
Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia equivalent from UAH 1,587.7 billion to UAH 1,602.64 billion (in dollar equivalent - from USD 41.8 billion to USD 42.31 billion).
The state-secured debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 333.58 billion, or USD 8.81 billion.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the total state (direct and guaranteed) debt of Ukraine for 2023 increased by 30.4% or USD 33.87 billion to a record USD 145.32 billion.
In 2022, the total state debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.
In 2021, the state debt increased by 8.52%, or by USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.
In 2020, the total state debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
