The Center for Countering Disinformation refuted the russian fake that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, has a son Ivan who supports russia and the occupation of Ukraine.
This is stated in the Center's statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Russian propagandists are spreading a video provocation with the so-called "son of Syrskyi". This video is part of a large-scale hostile IPSO (directed against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine). In the russian federation they are trying to take advantage of the fact that many Ukrainians, in particular the military, have relatives in the russian federation. This is what the enemies are trying to discredit Ukrainians. Ivan Syrskyi, who became the hero of russian videos, is not the son of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is the son of Oleksandr Syrskyi's ex-wife from her other marriage. Oleksandr Syrskyi did not adopt Ivan, but divorced his mother back in 2009," the Center for Countering Disinformation reported.
Oleksandr Syrskyi's ex-wife left for Australia with her children and new husband 14 years ago.
Syrskyi does not maintain any relationship with her family.
"Do not succumb to enemy propaganda and trust only verified sources of information," the Center appealed.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the russians previously created a network of fake accounts of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
