Zelenskyy submits bill on multiple citizenship for Rada's consideration

On Monday, January 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will introduce a bill on multiple citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada.

He stated this in the video during the congratulatory speech dedicated to the Day of Ukraine's Unity.

"Today, I am introducing a key bill to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which will make it possible to adopt complex changes to the legislation and introduce the institution of multiple citizenship," he said.

According to Zelenskyy, this will make it possible to have Ukrainian citizenship for all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from different countries of the world, except for citizens of Russia.

"All those who, during the periods of various emigration waves, were forced to leave their native land, ending up in Europe, the USA, Canada, the countries of Asia, Latin America. All those who help us despite hundreds and thousands of kilometers from their native land. Foreign volunteers who came to the defense of Ukraine, all those who fight for the freedom of Ukraine, as for their native Motherland. And Ukraine will become that for them," the President added.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy previously supported the introduction of multiple citizenships in Ukraine. He also urged women with children who work abroad not to rush to renounce Ukrainian citizenship, and multiple citizenship can solve this issue.
