During a meeting in Davos (Switzerland), President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg discussed preparations for the next NATO summit in Washington (United States), from which Ukraine expects decisions that will bring its membership in the Alliance closer.

This follows from a statement by the Presidential Office, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Jens Stoltenberg discussed the preparations for the next Alliance summit in Washington. The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is waiting for decisions to be made that will bring it closer to NATO membership," the message reads.

Zelenskyy and Stoltenberg also discussed the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine.

The President informed about the massive russian shelling of Ukrainian cities and communities that took place recently and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system.

The importance of signing a bilateral agreement on security cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain within the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted at the previous NATO summit in Vilnius was noted.

The President talked about the continuation of work on similar documents with other partners and emphasized the importance of the urgent signing of such agreements, which will be effective before Ukraine joins NATO.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Monday, January 15, Zelenskyy arrived in Switzerland to meet with the country's leaders and participate in the Davos Forum.
