During the day, January 9, a total of 64 combat clashes of the Defense Forces with the russian invaders took place. The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this in its evening operational update on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In total, during the day, the enemy launched 1 missile and 29 air strikes, carried out 17 attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and settlements. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are killed and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential and apartment buildings, other civil infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation is without significant changes. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were found. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering with Ukraine.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, attacks settlements from the territory of the aggressor country of the russian federation, increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy also launched an air strike in the area of Vesele of the Kharkiv Region. About 25 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks of the enemy, among them Karpovychi, Hremiach, Chernihiv Region; Volfyne, Kindrativka, Stepok, Sumy Region; Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Kharkiv Region.
On the Kupiansk axis, the defense forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the area of Synkivka in the Kharkiv Region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy also launched air strikes in the areas of Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Tabaivka, Pishchane, Berestove, Kharkiv Region. About 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kharkiv Region.
On the Lyman axis, our defenders repelled 4 enemy attacks in the areas east of Terny and Vesele, Donetsk Region. The enemy also launched an air strike in the area of Nove, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks, among them Bilohorivka, Luhansk Region and Yampolivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Donetsk Region.
On the Bakhmut axis, units of the defense forces repelled 3 enemy attacks in the areas of Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Donetsk Region.
On the Avdiivka axis, our defenders repelled 10 enemy attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Sievierne and 11 more attacks in the areas of Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy also launched an air strike in the area of Oleksandropil, Donetsk Region. About 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks of the enemy, among them Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sievierne, Nevelske, Donetsk Region.
On the Mariinka axis, the defense forces continue to deter the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defenses of our troops 14 times without success. Under the artillery and mortar fire of the invaders were such settlements of the Donetsk Region as Heorhiivka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka.
On the Shakhtarsk axis, the defense forces repelled an enemy attack in the area of Staromaiorske Donetsk Region. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks, in particular, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Staromaiorske, Donetsk Region.
On the Zaporizhzhia axis, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. More than 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks, among them Poltavka, Chervone, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia Region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group in the Kherson axis, Vesele, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Dniprovske, Stanislav and the regional center of the Kherson Region, as well as Solonchaky, Yaselka, Mykolaiv Region suffered enemy artillery shelling.
The enemy does not refuse the intention to knock out our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, during the day, the enemy carried out 9 unsuccessful assault actions on the positions of our troops, but our units continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the enemy.
During the day, air defense forces struck 9 areas of enemy personnel concentration.
Missile forces units struck at the area of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 enemy artillery equipment units.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the losses of russia in the war in Ukraine on Tuesday morning, January 9, amounted to 820 invaders, the total number of losses of the russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 365,990 of the military. In addition, the Armed Forces destroyed 10 vehicles, 18 cruise missiles and 9 AFVs.
