On January 4, the russian occupation forces tried to attack on six axes – Kupiyansk, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, Mariyinka, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
This was announced in the morning briefing by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
So, during the past day, 59 combat clashes took place. In total, the enemy carried out seven missile and 36 airstrikes and conducted 37 shelling using MLRSes against the positions of the Ukrainian troops and populated areas. It is reported that as a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and injured among the civilian population. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
In addition, at night, the russian invaders once again attacked Ukraine with Shahed-136/131-type UAVs. Meanwhile, airstrikes were carried out in Novomykhailivka and Heorhiyivka, Donetsk Region; Novodarivka and Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Region; and Zmiyivka, Kherson Region.
About 100 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolayiv Regions came under artillery fire.
In the area of responsibility of the North Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Volyn and Polisskyi Axes, the operational situation remains without significant changes.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi Axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active diversionary activities in order to prevent the transfer of our troops to the threatening Axis, increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the zone of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kupiyansk Axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks by the occupiers near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv Region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) operations on the Lyman Axis.
On the Bakhmut Axis, Ukrainian soldiers repelled four enemy attacks in the Bohdanivka, Klishchiyivka, and Andriyivka Districts of the Donetsk Region.
In the area of responsibility of the Tavria Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Avdiyivka Axis, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who does not stop trying to surround Avdiyivka. Ukrainian soldiers firmly hold the defense, inflicting significant losses on the invaders. Thus, during the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces repelled 16 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiyivka, and another 16 attacks in the Pervomaiske and Nevelsky Districts of the Donetsk Region.
On the Mariyinka Axis, defenders continue to hold back the enemy near Mariyinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Region, where seven attacks were repulsed.
The occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) operations on the Shakhtarsk Axis.
On the Zaporizhzhia Axis, the Defense Forces repelled eight enemy attacks in the Robotyne and north-western Verbove areas of the Zaporizhzhia Region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kherson Axis, Ukrainian soldiers will continue measures to expand the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not stop trying to knock out Ukrainian units from their positions. During the past day, the enemy carried out six unsuccessful assaults.
The General Staff reports that, at the same time, Ukrainian soldiers continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
Meanwhile, during the past day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces struck ten personnel concentration areas and two enemy control points.
In addition, units of the missile forces hit an air defense facility, an area for the concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, four artillery pieces, two electronic warfare stations, and three enemy control points.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, meanwhile, it was reported in the United States that the Ossetian occupation forces have already twice used ballistic missiles purchased from North Korea to attack Ukraine.
