During the day, 44 combat clashes of the Defense Forces with the aggressor took place. The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

In total, the enemy launched 6 missile and 14 air strikes, carried out 13 attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and settlements. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are killed and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential and apartment buildings, other civil infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation is without significant changes. No signs of the formation of offensive groups were found. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering with Ukraine.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and reconnaissance activities, attacks settlements from the territory of the aggressor country of the russian federation, increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. About 15 settlements were shelled by artillery and mortar attacks, among them Stepok, Popivka, Kostiantynivka, Chuikivka, Sumy Region; Udy, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha, Potykhonove, Kharkiv Region.
On the Kupiansk axis, the defense forces repelled 2 enemy attacks near Synkivka and east of Petropavlivka, Kharkiv Region. About 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kharkov Region.
On the Lyman axis, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. It fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, among them Bilohorivka, Luhansk Region and Yampolivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Donetsk Region.
On the Bakhmut axis, the Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks near Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk Region, where the enemy tried to break through the defenses of our troops. More than 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Donetsk Region.
On the Avdiivka axis, our defenders repelled 14 attacks in the areas of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and 9 more attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk Region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. About 10 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks of the enemy, among them Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sievierne, Nevelske, Donetsk Region.
On the Mariinka axis, the Defense Forces continue to deter the invaders in the areas of Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the defenses of our troops 7 times. The enemy also launched an air strike near Heorhiivka, Donetsk Region. Heorhiivka, Pobeda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka were under artillery and mortar fire.
On the Shakhtarsk axis, the enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions. More than 10 settlements, in particular, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Staromaiorsk, Donetsk Region, were under artillery and mortar attacks.
On the Zaporizhzhia axis, the Defense Forces repelled 7 attacks near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia Region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to restore the lost position. More than 15 settlements were under artillery and mortar attacks, among them Poltavka, Chervone, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia Region.
In the area of responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kherson axis, enemy artillery shelling was carried out of Novovorontsovka, Beryslav, Tiahynka, Ivanivka, Novotiahynka, Kherson, Stanislav of the Kherson Region and Solonchaky, Ochakiv of the Mykolaiv Region. The enemy also launched an air strike in the area of the village of Zmiivka, Kherson Region,
The invaders do not abandon the intention to knock out our units from the bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper. Thus, during the day, the enemy carried out 6 unsuccessful assault actions, but Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the invaders.
During the day, the air force of the Defense Forces attacked 10 areas of personnel concentration and 2 enemy control points.
Missile forces units hit an air defense unit, 4 artillery units, an electronic warfare station and 3 enemy control points.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, russia's losses in the war in Ukraine on Thursday morning, January 4, amounted to 780 invaders, the total number of losses of the russian army since the beginning of the invasion made 362,280 of the military. In addition, the Armed Forces destroyed 12 tanks, 28 artillery systems and 32 vehicles.
