On December 9, the russian occupying forces carried out offensive actions on seven axes, 60 combat clashes took place. Ukrainian defenders repulsed most of the enemy attacks on the Avdiyivka, Bakhmut, and Mariyinka Axes.
This follows from a statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
So, during the past day, 60 combat clashes took place. In total, the enemy launched one missile and eight air strikes, carried out 34 shelling from the anti-aircraft missile system at the positions of the Ukrainian troops and populated areas. As a result of russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
In particular, last day the russian invaders once again attacked Ukraine, using the Kh-59 guided missile and the Shahed-136/131 type UAV. The forces and means of air defense of Ukraine destroyed 1 Kh-59 guided missile, the enemy drone did not reach its target.
Also today, the russian occupiers attacked Ukraine, using 2 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles against the settlement of Velykyi Burluk, Kharkiv Region. Novomykhailivka and Prechystivka of the Donetsk Region were hit by airstrikes.
More than 120 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolayiv Regions came under artillery fire.
In the area of responsibility of the North Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Volyn and Polisskyi Axes, the operational situation remains without significant changes.
On the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi Axes, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active diversionary activities to prevent our troops from being transferred to the threatening Axes, and increases the density of mine-explosive barriers along the state border in the Belgorod region.
In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kupiyansk Axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka and Petropavlivka, Kharkiv Region, and Novoselivske, Luhansk Region.
On Lyman Axis, our defenders repulsed an enemy attack in the Serebrianske Forestry area, Luhansk Region.
On the Bakhmut Axis, our soldiers repelled 14 enemy attacks in the Bohdanivka, Ivanovsky, and Klishchiyivka Districts of the Donetsk Region. The defense forces of Ukraine continue their assault south of Bakhmut in the Donetsk Region, inflict losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment, and establish themselves at the achieved boundaries.
In the zone of responsibility of the Tavria anti-aircraft missile defense system on the Avdiyivka Axis, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who does not stop trying to surround Avdiyivka. Ukrainian soldiers steadfastly hold the defense, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. The defense forces successfully repelled 19 enemy attacks in the areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiyivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk Region.
On the Mariyinka Axis, defense forces continue to hold back the enemy in the Mariyinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka Districts of the Donetsk Region, where our defenders repelled eight attacks.
On the Shakhtarsk Axis, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the area of Staromayorske settlement of the Donetsk Region.
In Zaporizhzhia, axis units of the defense forces repelled three enemy attacks in the areas of Novopokrovka and west of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia Region.
At the same time, on the Melitopol Axis, the defense forces of Ukraine continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.
In the zone of responsibility of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Troops Group on the Kherson Axis, the defense forces will continue to hold occupied positions on the left bank of the Dnieper River, continue counter-battery combat, and inflict fire damage on the enemy's rear.
In addition, units of the missile forces damaged two areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and two warehouses of fuel and lubricants of the enemy.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Friday, December 8, russian troops conducted offensive operations near Avdiyivka and captured the city's sewage treatment plants. This is what the Institute for the Study of War claims.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy has concentrated more than 40,000 servicemen on the Avdiyivka Axis, and the activity of the infantry is not decreasing. The losses of the russians are about 300-400 people, the enemy continues to raise reserves.
