The total public (direct and secured) debt of Ukraine in August increased by 0.76%, or USD 1.01 billion, month over month, to a record USD 133.93 billion.
This is stated in the data of the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
State and state-secured debt at the end of August amounted to UAH 4,897.56 billion, or USD 133.93 billion, against UAH 4,860.59 billion, or USD 132.92 billion, a month earlier.
The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 4,555.69 billion (USD 124.58 billion) against UAH 4,521.09 billion (USD 123.63 billion) a month earlier.
At the same time, the direct foreign debt increased from USD 83.41 billion to USD 84.31 billion for the month.
Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnias from UAH 1,470.75 billion to UAH 1,472.64 billion (in dollar terms, it increased from USD 40.22 billion to USD 40.27 billion).
The state-guaranteed debt at the end of the reporting month amounted to UAH 341.87 billion, or USD 9.35 billion.
As Ukrainian News reported, in 2022, the total national debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or by 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.
In 2021, the national debt increased by 8.52%, or by USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.
In 2020, the total national debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
