The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) arrested Odesa businessman Borys Kaufman and set a bail of UAH 268 million.
The court made such a decision on September 7, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
At the request of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (NACB) detectives, approved by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SACPO) prosecutor, the investigating judge of the HACC chose a preventive measure against Kaufman in the case of the illegal acquisition of the property complex of the strategic object - Odesa International Airport communal enterprise and UAH 2.5 billion of income from its activities.
He is suspected of organizing the scheme.
The court partially granted the request and imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention with the alternative of paying UAH 268.4 million in bail.
The term of the preventive measure is until October 29, 2023.
In case of posting a bail, a number of procedural obligations will be imposed on the specified person.
According to the court's decision, the suspect was taken into custody in the courtroom.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the NACB served the suspicion of taking over Odesa International Airport and UAH 2.5 billion of income from its activities to 5 people, including the former Odesa Mayor Oleksii Kostusiev (father of MP Oleksii Honcharenko), his former deputy, manager one of the limited liability companies and businessmen Borys Kaufman and Oleksandr Hranovskyi.
Earlier, Kaufman and ex-MP Hranovskyi were served about the suspicion of creating an organized criminal group and bribery.
Kaufman was released on bail of UAH 129 million.
