Ukraine and Norway agreed on "transport visa-free regime" - the possibility to carry out cargo transportation without permits, which will be extended to trucks of the Euro-5 standard and above.
This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The simplified regime comes into effect on September 1 and will apply to both bilateral and transit transportation.
"In order to use transport visa-free regime opportunity, the carrier must have a certificate confirming the environmental class of the truck. At the same time, it is also possible to carry out transportation for vehicles of a lower environmental class. During the meeting of the Ukrainian-Norwegian mixed commission, it was possible to agree on permits for the next year," the message says.
According to the report, Ukrainian carriers will be able to obtain 250 universal permits and 50 - from/to third countries.
"We continue to create favorable conditions for our carriers. We are expanding the list of countries with which the "transport visa-free regime" actually operates - currently 35 countries. Previously, Ukrainian cargo carriers, regardless of the environmental class of vehicles, could travel to Norway only with a permit. Now, permit-free travel has been introduced for trucks of the Euro-5 standard and above. The liberalization of freight transportation will be in effect at least until June 30, 2024," emphasized Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June, Ukraine and North Macedonia agreed on a "transport visa-free regime."
At the end of June 2022, Ukraine signed an agreement with the European Union on freight transportation by road, which is practically visa-free for transport.
In March 2023, Ukraine and the EU extended the "transport visa-free regime" until June 30, 2024.
