Ukraine retains 25th place on Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in 7M

Ukraine retained the 25th place on the rating of the Worldsteel International Association by the volume of steel production in the first seven months of 2023.

This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to the production results in the first seven months of 2023, Ukraine took the 25th position among 64 steel-producing countries with a result of 3.43 million tons, down 28.8% year over year.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 626.51 million tons of steel in 7M, up 2.5% year over year.

China's share in world steel production is 56.8%.

The second place belongs to India (production increased by 9% to 79.9 million tons), the third place to Japan (decrease by 3.9% to 51.2 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (decrease by 2.3% to 46, 8 million tons), the fifth - Russia (increased by 2.8% to 44.2 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (decreased by 1.8% to 39.4 million tons), the seventh - Germany (decreased by 4.7% to 21.5 million tons), eighth – Turkiye (decreased by 13.5% to 18.8 million tons), ninth - Brazil (decreased by 8.6% to 18.6 million tons), and tenth - Iran (increased by 4.1% to 18.1 million tons).

In the first seven months of 2023, World steel production amounted to 1.1 billion tons, down 0.12% year over year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the ranking of the Worldsteel International Association in terms of steel production in 2022.
