Exports via 'grain corridor' down 23% last week

During the 48th week of operation of the 'grain corridor' (from June 26 to July 2), a total of 275,700 tons of agricultural products were exported through the seaports of the Odesa Region, which is 23% less than a week ago.

This follows from a statement by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The number of ships loaded this week remained six. However, these ships have not yet passed the necessary inspection to continue moving further to customers and are waiting. In addition, the number of ships that have passed inspection at the entrance is decreasing. Last week, there were only four such vessels. At the same time, the harvest has begun in Ukraine, and in the near future, the need for trouble-free export of agricultural products from Ukraine will increase significantly. The current pace of the 'grain corridor' remains unacceptably low," the message reads.

Corn (43% of exports during this period), sunflower cake (23%), and sunflower oil (23%) were mainly exported via the 'grain corridor' last week.

Ukrainian products went to countries in Asia (China, India, and Turkey), Europe (Netherlands), and Africa (Djibouti).

A total of 32.8 million tons of agricultural products have been exported since the beginning of the 'grain corridor' operation (from August 1, 2022, to July 2, 2023).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 17, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov announced that the "grain agreement" has been unblocked, and it will continue to operate until July 18.

On August 5, the first caravan with Ukrainian grain left the seaports of Odesa and Chornomorsk.
