Total national debt in May up 1% to USD 125.6 billion

Ukraine's aggregate state (direct and guaranteed) debt in May increased by 1%, or USD 1.28 billion, to USD 125.61 billion compared to the previous month.

This follows from a statement by the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

State and state-guaranteed debt at the end of May amounted to UAH 4,593.47 billion, or USD 125.61 billion, against UAH 4,544.87 billion, or USD 124.28 billion, a month earlier.

The total amount of direct government debt as of the reporting date was UAH 4,257.08 billion (USD 116.41 billion) against UAH 4,208.3 billion (USD 115.08 billion) a month earlier.

At the same time, the direct external debt increased from USD 75.79 billion to USD 76.69 billion for the month.

Direct domestic debt increased in hryvnia, equivalent from UAH 1,436.72 billion to UAH 1,452.75 billion (in dollar terms, it increased from USD 39.29 billion to USD 39.73 billion).

At the end of the reporting month, the state-guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 336.4 billion, or USD 9.2 billion.

As Ukrainian News reported, in 2022, the total national debt increased by USD 13.39 billion, or 13.66%, to USD 111.34 billion.

In 2021, the national debt increased by 8.52%, or USD 7.69 billion, to USD 97.95 billion.

In 2020, the total national debt increased by 6.9%, from USD 84.4 billion to USD 90.3 billion.
