Canada has announced additional military aid to Ukraine, which includes additional ammunition and expanded training programs for the Ukrainian military.

European Pravda writes about this with reference to the government's statement.

Canada's new aid was announced after the 12th meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, known as the Ramstein format.

Defense Minister Anita Anand announced that Canada will send five more tactical medicine instructors to Poland, in addition to the seven already training the Ukrainian military there.

"These additional representatives of the Canadian Armed Forces will double the number of potential graduates of the program," the communique states.

In addition, as part of Operation UNIFIER, Canadian and Latvian instructors began to jointly train grassroots commanders on May 15.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Canadian instructors have trained more than 2,400 Ukrainian soldiers, and during the operation since 2015 - more than 36,000.

In addition, Anita Anand announced the provision of 43 air-to-air AIM-9 missiles, noting that this would help Ukraine defend itself against airstrikes.

The minister also confirmed that the batch of small arms and ammunition promised in April has been partially delivered, and the rest will arrive soon.

In particular, already in Ukraine - machine guns, automatic weapons, tools for cleaning weapons and cartridges. Another million rounds of 5.56 mm and 4,800 assault rifles will be delivered "in the coming weeks."

Anita Anand also reminded that Canada helps transport military aid from other Western allies and its military transport planes have already delivered more than 4,000 tons of such cargo.

In total, since the beginning of 2022, Canada has provided over USD 8 billion in aid to Ukraine, the share of military aid in it is over USD 1 billion. Among the provided are 8 Leopard 2A4 tanks and 1 armored repair vehicle, NASAMS air defense system and its firing, 39 units of armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons, small arms, M777 howitzers and their ammunition, high-resolution drone cameras, winter uniforms for soldiers and other.
