Over the past day, Ukrainian defenders struck 19 enemy concentration areas, 2 ammunition depots and 3 more important enemy targets from the sky and the ground and shot down a Russian drone.

At night, Russian terrorists launched another massive missile attack on Ukraine. Information regarding the consequences of this terrorist attack is currently being clarified.
The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions. Heavy battles are being fought for the cities of Bakhmut and Maryinka. In total, during the past day, 42 enemy attacks were repulsed on the specified areas of the front.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 30 missile strikes, 61 airstrikes and fired 89 salvo rockets at the positions of our troops and populated areas. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged, and there were victims.
In the Siversk and Slobozhansk directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas with Ukraine. During the past day, the enemy fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Berylivka, Moshchenka, Halahanivka, Leonivka, Oleksandrivka, Buda-Vorobyivska, Hremyach of the Chernihiv Region; Znob-Novhorodske, Stara Huta, Shalyhyne, Novoslobidske, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne of the Sumy Region, as well as Hoptivka, Krasne, Zelene, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchanski Khutory, Karayichne, Mala Vovcha, Mykolayivka and Nesterne of the Kharkiv Region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Kupyansk direction. It carried out airstrikes in the areas of Zapadne and Masiutivka settlements. Kamianka, Topoli, Petro-Ivanivka, Fyholivka, Novomlynsk, Zapadne, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana, Buhayivka of the Kharkiv Region and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka – of the Luhansk Region were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of Bilohorivka during the day. It carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Nevske and Bilohorivka of the Luhansk Region and Verkhniokamianske and Spirne of the Donetsk Region. Makiyivka and Bilohorivka of the Luhansk Region and Yampolivka and Spirne of the Donetsk Region were hit by artillery fire.
On the Bakhmut direction, fighting continues in the city of Bakhmut. During the day, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the direction of Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar. It carried out airstrikes in the areas of Bohdanivka, Bakhmut and Predtechyne settlements. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Dyliyivka, Druzhba, Zalizne and New York of the Donetsk Region were affected by enemy shelling.
On the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy conducted offensive operations in the Avdiyivka and Pervomaiske districts of the Donetsk Region last night, without success. It shelled the settlements of Novokalynove, Berdychi, Lastochkyne, Avdiyivka, Sieverne, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, and Netaylove of the Donetsk Region.
In the Maryinka direction, units of the defense forces repelled numerous enemy attacks in the area of the city of Maryinka. Heorhiyivka and Pobieda of the Donetsk Region also came under enemy fire.
The enemy did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarsk direction. It carried out an air strike in the area of Velyka Novosilka. It shelled the settlements of Paraskoviyivka, Novomykhaylivka, and Vuhledar.
The enemy continues to conduct defensive operations in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions. It carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements of Vremivka of the Donetsk Region and Huliaipole and Novodanylivka of the Zaporizhzhia Region. It fired more than 30 settlements near the battle line. Among them are Vremivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil of the Donetsk Region; Olhivske, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka and Kamyanske of the Zaporizhzhia Region; Zolota Balka, Kachkarivka, Zmiyivka, Tiahynka, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Stanislav of the Kherson Region and the city of Kherson.
Over the past day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces made 16 strikes on areas where the enemy's personnel and military equipment are concentrated.
During the past day, the defenders destroyed, in particular, an enemy reconnaissance UAV of the Zala type.
Missile and artillery units hit 3 manpower concentration areas, 2 ammunition depots and 3 more important enemy targets.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 5, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar stated that Russian troops are aiming to capture Bakhmut by May 9. For this purpose, additional detachments of Wagner mercenaries were drawn into the city.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the mercenary leader of the Wagner PMC, promised to capture Bakhmut, but he has not yet been able to do so, so he is now declaring a "shell hunger".
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy lost about 100,000 men over the past nine months, of which 20,000 were casualties. If this trend continues, "no one will be sent to attack."
