AFU repel over 70 attacks by Russians advancing in 4 directions – General Staff

On April 2, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repelled more than 70 enemy attacks in four directions.

This follows from a statement by the General Staff of the AFU posted on Facebook.

During the past day, the enemy launched five missile and 32 air strikes and conducted over 50 attacks using MLRSes.

The probability of conducting missile and air strikes throughout the territory of Ukraine remains high because the enemy will continue to use terror tactics.

The enemy is concentrating its primary efforts on conducting offensive operations in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka directions; more than 70 enemy attacks were repulsed. Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka remain at the epicenter of hostilities.

The operational situation has not changed significantly in the Volyn, Polisskyi, Siversk, and Slobozhanskyi directions. During the day, the enemy shelled Volfyne, Basivka, Riasne, and Mezenivka in the Sumy Region and Veterynarne, Hatyshche, Velykyi Burluk, and Kolodiazne in the Kharkiv Region.

Kamiyanka, Petro-Ivanivka, Dvorichna, Kutkivka, Zapadne, Masiutivka, and Krokhmalne in the Kharkiv Region; and Novoselivske in the Luhansk Region came under enemy fire in the Kupiyansk direction.

In the Lyman direction, during the day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamiyanske. Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk Region; and Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk Region were subjected to artillery shelling.

In the direction of Bakhmut, the enemy does not stop storming Bakhmut, trying to take it under complete control. Our soldiers repelled more than 20 enemy attacks. Also, our defenders repelled the attacks of the occupiers in settlement of Ivanivske. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Kostiantynivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Zalizne, and Niu York in the Donetsk Region were affected by enemy shelling.

In the Avdiyivka and Marinka directions, the enemy carried out offensive actions in the Avdiyivka, Pervomaiske, and Marinka areas without success. Last day, Ukrainian soldiers repelled more than 15 enemy attacks near Mariyinka and Avdiyivka alone. In addition, the invaders shelled Orlivka, Tonenke, Sieverne, Netailove, Krasnohorivka, and Heorhiyivka in the Donetsk Region.

During the day, the enemy shelled the settlements of Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Vremivka, and Neskuchne in the Shakhtarsk direction.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy did not conduct active operations, improving defensive lines and positions. The enemy shelled more than 30 settlements near the battle line. Among them are Olhivske, Huliaipole, Bilohoriya, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriyivka, and Kamiyanske in the Zaporizhzhia Region; and Zolota Balka, Tomaryne, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Zelenivka, Komyshany, Bilozerka, and Kherson.

During the day, Ukrainian aviation carried out eight strikes on the concentration areas of the occupiers, and units of missile troops and artillery hit one control point, three areas of concentration of manpower, three positions of anti-aircraft defense equipment, and six other essential enemy objects.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military repelled more than 70 attacks by the occupiers in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka areas. The battles for the districts of Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Mariyinka remain the toughest.

It was previously reported that the date of the start of the counteroffensive of Ukrainian troops, which is planned in several directions, will depend on weather conditions.
