Spring Activity Of Russian Troops Reaching Its Culmination, And There Is Increasing Concern About Counteroffensive Of AFU - ISW

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that Russia's information space is reacting "with considerable concern" to reports of a slowdown in Russian operations and a possible counteroffensive by the Defense Forces. According to the institute, reports about the preparation of a possible Ukrainian counteroffensive are increasingly heard in the Russian information space.

ISW notes that the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said on March 24 that Russia is aware of the preparation of a Ukrainian counteroffensive, and that the general staff of the aggressor country is preparing decisions and measures to respond to it.

The analysts concluded that the so-called "great" Russian spring offensive appears to be "nearing its culmination, and the Russian information space is reacting to the slowdown in Russian operations and the possibility of Ukraine seizing the initiative with considerable concern."

"The Russian military command will need to shift a significant number of forces to the front to either prevent a culmination or to launch new offensive operations, and it is unlikely that such forces exist in sufficient numbers to do both," the review noted.
