18 Regions Begin Sowing

As of March 24, 18 regions have started a sowing campaign.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Currently, all categories of farms have sown 293,000 hectares of grain and leguminous crops, of which: spring wheat - 76,100 hectares; spring barley - 168,100 hectares; peas - 35,300 hectares; oats - 14,200 hectares.

The largest number of spring grains and leguminous crops was sown by agrarians of the Ternopil Region - 67,600 hectares.

Over the past week, 210,000 hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been sown.

Agrarians of the Vinnytsia, Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy Regions started sowing sugar beets.

At the same time, the agrarians of the Odesa Region began to sow sunflower.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts a decrease in grain and leguminous crops by 16.6%, or 8.8 million tons, to 44.3 million tons in 2023 compared to 2022.

At the same time, gross production of oilseeds is expected to increase to 19.2 million tons compared to 18.2 million tons of the previous year.
