Banks of Ukraine in January 2023 issued 357 mortgage loans totaling UAH 449.5 million.
The NBU has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Compared to January 2022, mortgage lending fell by half in terms of the number of contracts and by a quarter in the monetary dimension.
In January, 4 banks informed about the issuance of a new mortgage, which mainly credited under the state lending support programs Affordable Mortgage and eOselya exclusively in the secondary real estate market.
The weighted average effective mortgage rate was 7.5% in January (8.3% in December 2022).
In the regional context, the largest number of mortgage loans in January was issued in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region - 83 contracts totaling UAH 114.7 million (26% of the total), in the Volyn Region - 42 contracts for UAH 50.8 million (11%), in the Rivne Region - 36 contracts for UAH 40.1 million (9%), and the Lviv Region - 28 contracts for UAH 39.9 million (9%).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2022, the number of mortgage loans decreased 5.3 times by 2009, while two thirds of the loans were issued before the start of the war.
