Ukraine places 35th on Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in January

Ukraine took 35th place in the rating of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in January.

This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

According to him, according to the results of production in January, Ukraine took the 35th position among 64 steel-producing countries having produced 0.28 million tons, down 6.5 times year over year.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 79.45 million steel in January, which is 2.3% higher than in January 2022.

China's share in world steel production is 54.7%.

The second place belongs to India (production decreased by 0.2% to 10.9 million tons), the third place to Japan (decrease by 6.9% to 7.2 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (decrease by 6.8% to 6.5 million tons), the fifth - Russia (decreased by 8.9% to 5.8 million tons), the sixth - South Korea (decreased by 9.8% to 5.5 million tons), the seventh - Germany (decreased by 10.2% to 2.9 million tons), eighth - Brazil (decreased by 4.9% to 2.8 million tons), ninth - Iran (increased by 27.7% to 2.7 million tons), and the tenth – Turkiye (decreased by 17.6% to 2.6 million tons).

Global steel production in January amounted to 145.25 million tons, down 3.3% year over year.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the ranking of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2022.
