AFU repel enemy attacks near 20 settlements – General Staff

On February 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) repelled the enemy attacks in 20 settlements.

This follows from a statement by General Staff of the AFU posted on Facebook.

"During the day, the enemy carried out 10 missile and 29 air strikes. It carried out 69 attacks using MLRSes. The threat of further Russian missile strikes remains very high throughout the territory of Ukraine. The enemy's main efforts are focused on conducting offensive operations in Kupiyansk, Lyman, Bakhmutske, Avdiyivka, and Shakhtarsk directions.

Over the past day, our soldiers repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of Hrianykivka and Synkivka settlements in the Kharkiv Region; Stelmakhivka, Chervonopopivka, and Kreminna in the Luhansk Region; and Vyimka, Fedorivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Rozdolivka, Paraskoviyivka, Berkhivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Vesele, Vodiane, Mariyinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk Region;" says the General Staff.

- No offensive groups of the enemy were detected in the Volyn, Polisskyi, Siversk, and Slobozhanskyi directions. Areas of the settlements of Kolos in the Chernihiv Region were shelled; Mefedivka, Bachivsk, Esman, Kharkivka, Zarutske, Kindrativka, Yunakivka, Zapsillia, Maiske, and Mezenivka in the Sumy Region; as well as Veterynarne, Hraniv, Kozacha Lopan, Strelecha, Krasne, Borysivka, Borysivka, Vesele, Starytsia, and Krasne Pershe in the Kharkiv Region.

- In the Kupiyansk and Lyman directions, the enemy shelled more than 15 settlements. In particular, Hrianykivka, Kucherivka, Krokhmalne, and Berestove in the Kharkiv Region; Pershotravneve, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kreminna in the Luhansk Region; and Kuzmine, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk Region.

- Over 20 settlements were shelled in the direction of Bakhmut. In particular – Rozdolivka, Zaliznianske, Paraskoviyivka, Berkhivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Kurdiumivka, and Niu York in the Donetsk Region.

- In the Avdiyivka and Shakhtarsk directions, artillery shelling was recorded in 20 areas of populated areas. Among them are Avdiyivka, Vodiane, Vesele, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Mariyinka, Bohoyavlenka, Velyka Novosilka, Zolota Nyva, Vuhledar, and Neskuchne in the Donetsk Region.

- In the Zaporizhzhia direction; the areas of 25 settlements, including Malynivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohoriya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriyivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Stepove, Kamiyanske, and Prydniprovske in the Zaporizhzhia Region were affected by fire.

- In the Kherson direction, Kherson was hit from enemy artillery, the same happened to the districts of more than 25 settlements, including Mykhailivka, Novooleksandrivka, Havrylivka, Zmiyivka, Vesele, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Mykilske, Sadove, and Antonivka in the Kherson Region.

During the day, the aviation of the AFU made five strikes on enemy concentration areas, as well as one on the position of an anti-aircraft missile complex. Air defense forces shot down six enemy UAVs. According to preliminary information, five were of the Lancet type and one was of the Zala type.

In addition, units of missile forces and artillery hit three areas of concentration of the enemy's manpower and the position of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system in the firing position.
