Ukraine took 24th place in the rating of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2022.
This is stated in the message of the Ukrmetalurgprom association of metallurgical enterprises, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to it, according to the results of production in 2022, Ukraine took the 24th position among 64 countries - producers of steel with the result of 6.26 million tons, which is 3.4 times lower than the indicator of January-December 2021.
The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 1 billion tons of steel in 2022, which is by 2.1% less than in 2021.
China's share in world steel production is 55.3%.
The second place belongs to India (production increased by 5.5% to 124.7 million tons), the third place to Japan (decrease by 7.4% to 89.2 million tons), the fourth place to the USA (decrease by 5.9% to 80.7 million tons), the fifth to Russia (decreased by 7.2% to 71.5 million tons), the sixth to South Korea (decreased by 6.5% to 65.9 million tons), the seventh to Germany (decreased by 8.4% to 36.8 million tons), the eighth to Turkey (decreased by 13% to 35.1 million tons), the ninth to Brazil (decreased by 5.8% to 34 million tons), the tenth to Iran (increased by 8% to 30.6 million tons).
World steel production in 2022 amounted to 1.8 billion tons, which is by 4.3% lower than in January-December 2021.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the Worldsteel rating in terms of steel production in January-November 2022.
Ukraine took 14th place in the Worldsteel rating by the volume of steel production in 2021 with a result of 21.37 million tons, which is by 3.6% more than in 2020.
