Zaporizhstal Reduces Steel Production 2.6 Times To 1.5 Million Tons In 2022

In 2022, Zaporizhstal, one of the largest steel companies in Ukraine and a leading manufacturer of high quality steel, reduced steel production 2.6 times or by 2.4 million tons year over year to 1,491,300 tons.

The company has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In 2022, the enterprise reduced the output of pig iron 2.2 times or by 2.4 million tons year over year to 2,009,900 tons, and the production of rolled products - 2.5 times or by 2 million tons year over year to 1,304,300 tons.

In December 2022, Zaporizhstal reduced the production of pig iron 2.8 times year over year to 142,100 tons, steel production decreased 4.8 times to 70,800 tons, the production of rolled products fell 5 times year over year to 56,700 tons.

"The decrease in production level compared to the same period last year is associated with a shortage of raw materials and logistical problems caused by full-scale military actions in Ukraine. In addition, due to massive missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities and, as a result, a power shortage in the power system, the plant reduced production, thus reducing the consumption of purchased electricity," the report said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in November 2022, Zaporizhstal reduced steel production 3.9 times year over year to 86,000 tons.

In early April, Zaporizhstal took equipment out of preservation and partially resumed production.

On March 2, Zaporizhstal temporarily suspended production.
