Ukraine Receives CAD 500 Million From Canada

Canada, loan

On December 19, Ukraine received an additional CAD 500 million (equivalent to USD 367 million) from Canada under a loan agreement between Ukraine and Canada.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The total loan amount is CAD 1.95 billion (equivalent to USD 1.432 billion).

These are the funds of the five-year "Bonds of Sovereignty of Ukraine," which the Government of Canada has placed to support Ukraine on the eve of the difficult winter period.

The loan is provided on preferential terms through the administrative account of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

On June 15, 2022, Ukraine received CAD 1 billion (equivalent to USD 779 million), and on August 18, 2022, the state budget received CAD 450 million (equivalent to USD 349 million) of credit on preferential terms with maturity of up to 10 years and an interest rate of 1.69% per annum.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in October, Canada announced the allocation of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of USD 47 million, which will include winter uniforms for Ukrainian servicemen.
