AFU repel 10 attacks by Russians in Donbas – General Staff

The Ukrainian aviation carried out 16 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and six strikes on the positions of the Russian anti-aircraft missile systems, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 10 attacks in the Luhansk and Donetsk Regions.

This follows from a statement by the General Staff of the AFU posted on Facebook.

Over the past day, units of the AFU repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Chervonopopivka, and Serebrianske of the Luhansk Region, and Verkhniokamiyanske, Pidhorodne, Bakhmut, Opytne, Kurdiumivka, Krasnohorivka, and Mariyinka of the Donetsk Region.

During the day, the Russians carried out four missile and 60 air strikes, and also carried out more than 80 attacks using MLRSes. As a result of these strikes, civilian infrastructure and the population were affected.

A threat of enemy air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure remains throughout Ukraine.

In the Volyn and Polisskyi directions, the situation remains without significant changes, no signs of the formation of offensive groups of occupiers have been detected. Certain units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation continue to be located in the border areas with Ukraine.

On the Siversk direction, the settlements of Tymonovychi, Karpovychi, and Kostobobriv of Chernihiv Region and Novovasylivka, Kindrativka, Vodolahy, Zapsillia, and Yizdetske in the Sumy Region were hit with mortars.

In the Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery attacks on the positions of our troops in the areas of the settlements of Strelecha, Hlyboke, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Volokhivka, Chuhuyivka, and Dvorichna of the Kharkiv Region.

On the Kupiyansk and Lyman directions, the enemy fired tanks, mortars, barrel artillery, and MLRSes on the areas of the settlements of Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne, and Berestove in the Kharkiv Region and Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Ploshanka, Chervonopopivka, and Dibrova in the Luhansk Region.

In the Bakhmut and Avdiyivka directions, the enemy continues to conduct assaults, fired tanks, mortars and rocket artillery at our positions in the areas of thirty settlements. In particular, these are Verkhniokamiyanske, Berestivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Hryhorivka, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiyivka, Andriyivka, Kurdyumivka, Avdiyivka, Krasnohorivka, Mariyinka, and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk Region.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy continues artillery shelling of the positions of our troops and civilian infrastructure along the right bank of the Dnieper River. The areas of Temyrivka, Chervone, Mali Shcherbaky, and Plavni settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Region and Chornobayivka, Antonivka, Kherson, Mykilske, Tokarivka, and Mylove in the Kherson Region were affected.

The enemy continues to suffer losses, it has been confirmed that the point of permanent deployment of Russians was hit on December 18 of this year in the area of Chaplynka, Kherson Region. Information about the dead and wounded occupiers is being clarified.

The Ukrainian aviation made 16 strikes on the areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 6 strikes on the positions of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems. Air defense forces shot down two enemy helicopters last day.

Units of the missile troops and artillery of the AFU hit the ammunition depot, three control points and three areas where the enemy's manpower was concentrated.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the losses of Russian troops on December 18 increased by 520 to 98,800 killed, and the Ukrainian military destroyed six armored combat vehicles, five artillery systems and eight drones last day.
