Ukraine Takes 23th Place In Worldsteel Rating In Terms Of Steel Production In 8M

Ukraine took 23th place in the rating of the Worldsteel international association in terms of steel production in January-August 2022.

Ukrainian News Agency learned this from a statement of the Ukrmetalurhprom association of metallurgical enterprises.

According to it, according to the results of production in January-August, Ukraine ranks 23th among 64 countries - steel producers with a result of 5.19 million tons, which is 2.8 times less than in January-August 2021.

The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 693.15 million tons of steel in eight months, which is by 5.7% less than in the same period of 2021.

China's share in world steel production is 55.3%.

The second place belongs to India (production increased by 7.1% to 83.5 million tons), the third place belongs to Japan (decreased by 5.2% to 60.7 million tons), the fourth place belongs to the United States (decreased by 3.7% to 54.9 million tons), the fifth place belongs to Russia (decreased by 5.8% to 48.9 million tons), the sixth place belongs to South Korea (decreased by 3% to 46 million tons), the seventh place belongs to Germany (decreased by 4.8% to 25.4 million tons), the eighth place belongs to Turkiye (decreased by 8.8% to 24.4 million tons), the ninth place belongs to Brazil (decreased by 4.5% to 23.1 million tons), the tenth place belongs to Iran (increased by 7.8% to 19.5 million tons).

World steel production in January-August amounted to 1,253.89 million tons, which is by 5.2% less than in the eight months of 2021.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the first seven months of 2022, Ukraine retained the 21st place in the rating of the Worldsteel international association by the volume of steel production.

Ukraine took 14th place in the Worldsteel ranking in terms of steel production in 2021 with a result of 21.37 million tons, which is 3.6% more than in 2020.
