EU ministers agree to impose additional sanctions against RF and increase weapons supply to Ukraine – Borrell

The ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union agreed to prepare additional sanctions against Russia and to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

High Representative of the European Union Josep Borrell announced this on Twitter, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Tonight (September 21), I convened a special meeting of EU foreign ministers. We decided to put forward additional restrictive measures against Russia as soon as possible in coordination with partners. We will continue to support Ukraine's efforts by providing military equipment," he said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in the morning of Wednesday, September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced partial mobilization, supported the holding of "referendums" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, and threatened to use nuclear weapons "in the event of a threat to Russia's territorial integrity."

Borrell considers Putin's announcement of partial mobilization, support for sham referendums and nuclear blackmail as a serious escalation. He noted that the international community should unite to prevent such actions.
