Agrarians Gather 26 Million Tons Of Grain

As of September 16, agricultural enterprises collected 26 million tons of early grain and leguminous crops from an area of 6.77 million hectares (61%) with a yield of 38.4 tons per hectare.

This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, 4.7 million hectares (99%) of wheat were threshed, with a yield of 41.0 tons per hectare and 19.2 million tons were threshed; 1.6 million hectares (100%) of barley were threshed, with a yield of 34.7 tons per hectare, and 5.5 million tons were threshed; 109,400 hectares of peas were threshed (98%), with a yield of 22.9 tons per hectare, 250,700 tons were threshed; 12,200 hectares (0.3%) of corn were threshed for grain, with a yield of 52.3 tons per hectare, 63,700 tons were threshed; buckwheat was threshed on 40,500 hectares (34%), with a yield of 14.4 tons per hectare, 58,500 tons were threshed; millet was threshed on 25,900 hectares (58%), with a yield of 22.7 tons per hectare, 58,600 tons were threshed.

Sunflower was harvested on an area of 478,000 hectares (10%), 924,000 tons of seeds were threshed with a yield of 19.3 tons per hectare.

Soy was harvested on an area of 71,500 hectares, (5%) 172,000 tons were threshed with a yield of 24.1 tons per hectare.

Rape harvesting was completed on an area of 1.092 million hectares, (100%) threshed 3.1 million tons of seeds with a yield of 28.6 tons per hectare.

Also, 334,000 tons of sweet sugar beet roots were dug up with a yield of 537 tons per hectare on an area of 6,200 hectares (3.5%).

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ukrainian Grain Association lowered the current forecast for the harvest of grain and oil crops this year by 7.1% or 4.9 million tons to 64.5 million tons compared to the July forecast.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food maintains the forecast for the harvest of grain and oil crops at the level of 65-67 million tons in 2022.

In 2021, farmers harvested 106 million tons of grain, leguminous and oil crops, which is the largest indicator in the entire history of independent Ukraine.

More than 84 million tons of cereals and legumes were harvested, 22.6 million tons of oil crops.
