Steel Production Down 2.8 Times To 5.2 Million Tons In 8M

In January-August, steel production decreased 2.8 times or by 9,404,000 tons to 5,186,000 tons compared to the same period last year.

This is stated in the information published on the website of the Ukrmetalurgprom association of metallurgical enterprises, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

For the first eight months of 2022, compared to the same period last year, the production of pig iron decreased 2.8 times or by 9,331,000 tons to 5,150,000 tons, and the production of rolled products decreased 2.9 times or by 8,535,000 tons to 4,477,000 tons.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, steel production decreased 2.4 times to 4.539 million tons, iron production - 2.4 times to 4,538,000 tons, rolled steel production 2.4 times to 4,018,000 tons.

In 2021, steel production increased by 3.6% or 750,000 tons, compared to 2020, to 21,366,000 tons.

At the same time, the production of cast iron increased by 3.6% or 742,000 tons to 21,165,000 tons, the production of rolled products - by 9.1% or 140,000 tons to 1,672,000 tons.
