Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that Ukraine will receive a "customs visa-free regime" with the European Union this year.

Shmyhal wrote about this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Prime Minister said that on August 25, the Joint Committee of the Conventions on Common Transit and Simplification of Formalities made the official decision to invite Ukraine to join them from October 1.

Ukraine will become the 36th state party to the Conventions.

Shmyhal noted that "customs visa-free" is rather the movement of goods between the countries of the European region, less bureaucracy at the customs itself, less opportunities for abuse, and the exchange of data with neighboring customs in real time.

"Customs visa-free regime" is one of the key directions of building convenient and transparent customs in Ukraine," he stressed.

Shmyhal noted that right now the e-queue project is being implemented at the border, work is underway to create joint checkpoints with European neighbors and modern service zones at all checkpoints.

In addition, the central role in the transformation of customs is assigned to its digitalization, including convenient customs clearance through the Diia electronic service of public services.

The Prime Minister added that the "customs visa-free regime" will become the fourth visa-free regime with the EU this year, after the "energy visa-free regime" in March and the "transport" and "economic" visa-free regimes in the summer.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Shmyhal said that Ukraine plans to complete preparations for joining the European Union by the end of 2024.

On August 15, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on "customs visa-free regime" - on changes to the Customs Code necessary for Ukraine to join the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS) and the Convention on the Procedure for Joint Transit.
