Ukraine Counting On IMF Financing Under New Special Program In November-December - Shmyhal

Ukraine is expecting to receive financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under a new special program in November-December. This is stated in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement emphasizes that Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, during an online conversation with the Federal Minister of Finance of Germany, Christian Lindner, said that last week Ukraine submitted an official proposal to the International Monetary Fund to launch a new special IMF program.

"On Friday, the letter was sent to the head of the Fund. We expect to receive appropriate assistance from the IMF already in November-December of this year," Shmyhal said.

Shmyhal and Lindner also discussed the issue of restoring infrastructure and networks in Ukraine, as well as gas purchases for the autumn-winter period.

Shmyhal expressed his gratitude to the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, for the initiative of holding the G7 conference on the restoration of Ukraine in October.

According to the statement, Lindner assured that Germany will help Ukraine quickly receive the next ERU 8 billion of macro-financial assistance from the EU and will take the lead in this process.

In addition, according to him, Germany supports the procedures initiated by the government of Ukraine to postpone the payment of debts and efforts towards the launch of a special program with the IMF.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in April, the IMF called on member countries to close Ukraine's need for USD 5 billion per month to finance the state budget due to the war.
