The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) served suspicion of high treason to the former Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs Oleksandr Lavrynovych and Kostiantyn Hryschenko for the preparation of the Kharkiv Agreements.

Ukrainian News Agency was informed about this by the SBI.

They were served of the suspicion of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, in April 2010, the suspects, according to a previous conspiracy by a group of persons with the former president and former prime minister, acted to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, state and economic security of Ukraine, in violation of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine On International Treaties of Ukraine, without actual consideration of the draft Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the issue of the presence of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on the territory of our state by the interested bodies and conducting a mandatory legal examination, they approved it without comments.

As a result of such actions of the suspects and other persons, an agreement was agreed, signed and ratified in April 2010, which extended the stay of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine for 25 years.

This created favorable conditions for the further re-equipment and modernization of the armament of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, as well as its increase in the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, instead of withdrawal from Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the State Bureau of Investigation refutes the media's information about the destruction of materials of a number of high-profile criminal cases, in particular, the cases of the "Kharkiv Agreements" and the "coal case" (concerning Member of Parliament Viktor Medvedchuk and former President Petro Poroshenko).

Lavrynovych and Hryshchenko were summoned to the prosecutor's office for questioning on July 25.
