Number Of Killed Children Up 2 To 231 Since Start Of Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine

The number of killed children compared to the data on the morning of May 18 increased by 2 to 231, injured - by 3 to 424 since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Prosecutor General's Office has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As of the morning of May 19, 2022, 658 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data from juvenile prosecutors, 231 children were killed and 427 were injured," the statement says.

Children suffered the most in Donetsk region - 144, Kyiv region - 116, Kharkiv region - 100, Chernihiv region - 68, Kherson region - 48, Luhansk region - 47, Mykolaiv region - 44, Zaporizhzhia region - 28, Sumy region - 17, in the city of Kyiv - 16 and in Zhytomyr region - 15.

It is noted that on May 17, the enemy again fired at the city of Bakhmut (Donetsk region).

3 children (aged 9, 12 and 17) were seriously injured as a result of a missile attack on a residential building.

On May 18, under the rubble of a destroyed house, rescuers found the bodies of a woman and a 2-year-old child.

In addition, it became known about the death of a 17-year-old girl in Polohy, Zaporizhzhia region as a result of shelling by the invaders of the city's civilian infrastructure.

As a result of daily bombardments and shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages, 1,828 educational institutions were damaged by the Russian military, 171 of them were completely destroyed.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, on April 11, Ukraine and Lithuania agreed to cooperate in the field of protecting children affected by the war in Ukraine.

On March 19, the occupiers illegally brought to Russia 2,389 children who were in the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions
