Russian troops are firing along the entire line of contact in the Donetsk operational area and in the Sloviyansk direction, are taking steps to strengthen the offensive group, and continue to launch missile strikes on military and civilian targets throughout Ukraine.
This was announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the morning summary on May 18.
In other areas, the main efforts of the enemy are focused on holding the previously occupied frontiers, conducting reconnaissance, engineering equipment positions, replenishment of reserves, as well as improving the tactical situation.
In the Volyn, Polisskyi and Siverskyi directions, units of the Armed Forces of Belarus are carrying out tasks to strengthen the Ukrainian-Belarusian border in Brest and Gomel regions. The threat of rocket and air strikes from the territory of Belarus remains.
It is noted that in order to demonstrate the presence and restraint of the AFU, the enemy continues to hold units in the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk regions.
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian troops focused on holding their positions and fired artillery at the settlements of Tsyrkuny, Ruski Tyshky, Cherkaski Tyshky, and Pytomnyk.
In the Sloviyansk direction, the enemy attacks Dovhenke. He deployed jet and barrel artillery units to support offensive operations in a certain area.
In Donbas, the offensive continues in the Liman, Sievierodonetsk, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Kurakhove directions.
According to the Ukrainian military leadership, the enemy was advancing in the Lyman direction in order to establish full control over Drobysheve and block the Lyman from the north. It concentrated up to fifteen helicopters in Luhansk region to provide air support for offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Severodonetsk areas.
In addition, the Russian army continues to carry out artillery and air strikes on Azovstal in Mariupol in order to block Ukrainian units.
In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy reinforces a group of troops to conduct an attack on Polohy - Orekhove.
In the Pivdennyi Buh direction, the enemy is concentrating its efforts on holding the occupied frontiers, conducting reconnaissance, and exerting fiery influence on the AFU units.
In the Mykolayiv direction, the enemy deployed batteries of jet and barrel artillery on fire positions.
The situation in Transnistrian region of Moldova remains tense.
Ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the Black and Azov Seas continue to perform tasks to isolate the area of hostilities, reconnaissance and fire support in the coastal direction.
On the previous day, the AFU hit 11 Russian drones and four cruise missiles.
In the past 24 hours, 12 enemy attacks were repulsed in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions, three tanks, three artillery systems, six units of armored combat vehicles and seven vehicles were destroyed.
