The number of killed children compared to May 4 increased by 1 to 221, injured - by 1 to 408 since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Prosecutor General's Office has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"As of the morning of May 5, 2022, 629 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data, 221 children were killed and 408 were injured," the statement says.
Children suffered the most in Donetsk region - 139, Kyiv region - 116, Kharkiv region - 95, Chernihiv region - 68, Kherson region - 46, Mykolaiv region - 44, Luhansk region - 37, Zaporizhzhia region - 27, Sumy region - 17, in the city of Kyiv - 16, and Zhytomyr region - 15.
It is indicated that on May 3, as a result of shelling by Russian invaders of the village of Veselyi Kut, Mykolaiv region, a 9-year-old girl was injured.
Besides, during the recording of criminal offenses committed by the Russian army in Kyiv region, in the village of Shybenne, the body of a 10-year-old girl was found who died from shrapnel wounds due to an enemy shell hitting the building.
As a result of daily bombardments and shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages, 1,584 educational institutions were damaged by the Russian military, 118 of them were completely destroyed.
