Number Of Killed Children Up 2 To 219 Since Start Of Russia's Invasion Of Ukraine

The number of killed children has risen by 2 to 219 and those injured by 5 to 398 since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As of the morning of April 29, 2022, more than 617 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. According to official data, 219 children were killed and 398 were injured of varying severity," the statement says.

Children suffered the most in Donetsk region - 139, Kyiv region - 115, Kharkiv region - 95, Chernihiv region - 68, Kherson region - 44, Mykolaiv region - 43, Luhansk region - 37, Zaporizhzhia region - 27, Sumy region - 17, the city of Kyiv - 16, Zhytomyr region - 15.

It became known that in the first week of March on the road near the village of Chervone, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region, a car was blown up by a mine, as a result of which children aged 2 and 14 were killed.

On March 7, during artillery shelling by the invaders of the Romanivskyi bridge in Irpin, a 10-year-old boy was shell-shocked.

On April 28, as a result of shelling by enemy troops of the village of Tsyrkuny of Kharkiv district of Kharkiv region was a 10-year-old girl was injured.

On April 21, a 17-year-old boy was delivered to a medical institution in Dnipropetrovsk region with injuries that he received as a result of shelling of Mariupol by the invaders.

1,556 educational institutions were damaged as a result of daily bombardments and shelling of Ukrainian cities and villages by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, while 102 of them were completely destroyed.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, on April 11, Ukraine and Lithuania agreed to cooperate in the field of protecting children affected by the war in Ukraine.
