Japan Decides To Allocate USD 100 Million Loan And USD 2.3 Million Grant To Ukraine

Japan has decided to provide Ukraine with a USD 100 million loan and a USD 2.3 million grant.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

On April 28, an agreement was signed between the government of Ukraine and the government of Japan on a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency for development policy in the field of emergency economic recovery and a grant to strengthen the healthcare and medicine system in Ukraine.

The Japanese government will provide Ukraine with a USD 100 million loan on favorable terms.

We are talking about budgetary support to stabilize the situation in Ukraine, in particular, to ensure priority social, humanitarian, health care costs, support for internally displaced persons and other priority costs.

The loan repayment period is 30 years, including a grace period of 10 years; interest rate - 1% per annum.

Grant assistance in the amount of approximately USD 2.3 million will be used to purchase medical equipment to support the healthcare and medical system.

When signing the agreement, representatives of the Japanese government noted that they would continue to support Ukraine in cooperation with the international community.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, in mid-April, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed with Japan to raise 13 billion yen in aid.
