President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, during their visit to Kyiv, defense assistance, financial support, security guarantees for Ukraine, and increased sanctions against Russia.
The press service of the President of Ukraine has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Zelenskyy noted the importance of U.S. high-ranking officials visiting Kyiv at this crucial moment for Ukraine and thanked President of the United States Joseph Biden for his leadership in support of Ukraine and for his personal clear position, the entire American people, as well as Congress for bicameral and bipartisan support.
He noted that the USD 3.4 billion in defense support provided by the United States is the largest contribution to strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and is already helping to bring Ukraine's defense capabilities to a qualitatively new level.
The interlocutors paid particular attention to the sanctions policy, which should continue to be strengthened and become a significant element of influence on the aggressor.
Discussing ways to intensify financial support for Ukraine both to promote the economy and restore the state, the President emphasized the importance of expanding U.S. opportunities for Ukrainian goods to enter the American market.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the peace process and the prospects for strengthening the anti-war coalition.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine sees the United States as a leader among future countries - guarantors of its security.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, on April 23, during a press conference, Zelenskyy announced the visit of Blinken and Austin to Ukraine scheduled for April 24.
