On Monday, April 18, there will be no humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of the population.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk announced this on Facebook, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"To date, on April 18, unfortunately, there will be no humanitarian corridors. Yesterday we conducted long and difficult negotiations on corridors from Mariupol, Berdiansk, Tokmak, Enerhodar. We also worked on corridors from Kherson region (Novovorontsivka, Osokorivka, Myroliubivka, Novovoznesenske, Vysokopillia). Of course, negotiations were also going on corridors from Luhansk region: Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Popasna and the village of Nyzhnie. However, in violation of international humanitarian law, the Russian invaders do not stop blocking and shelling humanitarian routes," she wrote.
Therefore, according to Vereshchuk, for security reasons, it was decided on Monday not to open humanitarian corridors.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, 1,449 people were evacuated along humanitarian corridors on April 16.
