Police Detain Man Who Called Himself Monk On Suspicion Of Reconnaissance And Sabotage Activities In Kyiv

The police have detained in Kyiv a man who called himself a monk of one of the temples, on suspicion of reconnaissance and sabotage activities.

The press service of the police has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In Kyiv, the police detained a supporter of the "Russian world" on suspicion of reconnaissance and sabotage activities. It turned out that the detainee supported the actions of the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine, promoted the ideas of the "Russian world" and collaborated with the enemy, passing important information. 41-year-old attacker, who called himself a monk of one of the temples, was detained by operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine at one of the metro stations,” reads the statement.

Evidence was confiscated from him, indicating a possible involvement in reconnaissance and sabotage activities on the territory of Ukraine and complicity with the enemy.

Besides, the suspect’s phone contains correspondence with subscribers from Russia calling for the destruction of Ukrainians, photographs of critical infrastructure facilities, audio recordings with information about the location of roadblocks.

The detainee was handed over to the SSU for further investigative actions.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine states that the Russian military is training sabotage and reconnaissance groups to act under the guise of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
