As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, U.S. President Joe Biden, during a conversation on December 7, warned Russian President Vladimir Putin about the use of economic measures in the case of an escalation of the conflict with Ukraine.
Putin, in turn, told Biden about Russia's interest in legal guarantees of NATO's eastward non-expansion.
Later, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released Russian-developed draft agreements with the United States and NATO to provide legal guarantees for Russia's security, providing for NATO's commitment to rule out further eastward expansion, in particular, Ukraine joining the alliance.
During a press conference on December 23, Putin noted the positive reaction of the United States to the Russian proposals on security guarantees and said that negotiations on this issue would begin in early 2022 in Geneva (Switzerland).
On the same day, the White House did not confirm an agreement on Biden's talks with Putin on Russian proposals for security guarantees in early 2022 in Geneva.
