On October 25, Ukraine received the second tranche from the European Union within the framework of the fifth EU macro-financial assistance program with a nominal amount of EUR 600 million.

The Ministry of Finance has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The loan was provided in the form of a long-term loan at an interest rate of 0.250% maturing in April 2036.

"The Ukrainian side has fulfilled the terms of the macro-financial assistance program agreed by the parties, which made it possible to attract the specified loan. We continue to work actively to ensure the macro-financial stability of the state and the implementation of structural reforms," said Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.

The main condition for receiving the specified second tranche was the implementation of structural reforms in the areas of public financial management, good governance and the rule of law, improving the business climate, sectoral reforms and state-owned enterprises.

The funds received will be used to finance budgetary needs and reduce the financial burden on the budget of Ukraine.

Taking into account the funds received, the total amount of EU loan assistance received by Ukraine as part of the implementation of five macro-financial assistance programs during 2014-2021 reached EUR 5.01 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in July 2020, Ukraine and the EU signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the "exceptional" (fifth in a row) macro-financial assistance program worth up to EUR 1.2 billion.

In December 2020, Ukraine received the first tranche from the EU with a par value of EUR 600 million.
