UAH 29 Billion Of Budget Funds Spent To Prevent Spread Of Coronavirus In 7M - Finance Ministry

According to the Ministry of Finance, in January-July 2021, spending on the fight against COVID-19 was UAH 29 billion.

Deputy Finance Minister Roman Yermolychev said this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, the funds were spent on: payment for emergency and inpatient medical care provided to patients with COVID-19 and services for vaccination of the population against COVID-19 - UAH 11.7 billion; for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19 – UAH 9.2 billion; for the purchase of goods and services to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (except for vaccines) - UAH 2.3 billion, including UAH 1.6 billion from local budgets; payments to institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences for hospitalization services for patients with COVID-19 - UAH 15.5 million; to provide hospitals with oxygen - UAH 0.6 billion.

UAH 2.9 billion were spent on activities related to social support of the population under quarantine; for the payment of material support due to temporary disability (sick leave) – UAH 0.8 billion; for the payment of unemployment benefits - UAH 1.1 billion.

Also, UAH 18.3 million was spent on the implementation of measures to combat COVID-19 in educational institutions; for additional payments to salaries of servicemen of the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service, civil protection bodies and units, police officers, medical and other employees of departmental healthcare institutions - UAH 0.75 billion.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2020, UAH 78.4 billion out of UAH 80.9 billion was used from the COVID-19 fund.

Including from the general fund UAH 63.7 billion were used out of the allocated UAH 72 billion, from the special fund – UAH 2.8 billion out of the allocated UAH 6.4 billion.
