Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 91.5% To 2,608, Number Of New Lethal Cases Up 3.7 Times To 249 On May 24

On May 24, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 2,608 over May 23 to 2,186,463, and the number of deaths increased by 249 over May 23 to 49,685; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 91.5%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 3.7 times.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of May 25, a total of 2,186,463 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 49,685 fatal cases; 1,975,064 people had recovered.

On May 24, a total of 2,608 new disease cases were recorded, 249 people died, and 17,504 people recovered.

Therefore, as of May 24, the number of newly infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (2,608 vs 17,504).

As of the morning of May 25, the overall number of currently coronavirus-infected people in Ukraine was 161,714, down 8.6% over May 24.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (204,678), Kharkiv region (145,683), and Odesa region (138,963).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 134,879 coronavirus infection cases, Dnipropetrovsk region – 132,021; Kyiv region – 124,176 cases, Zaporizhia region – 101,870, Donetsk region – 88,517, Khmelnytskyi region – 87,504, Zhytomyr region – 87,225, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 85,895, Cherkasy region – 80,093, Chernivtsi region – 78,908, Rivne region – 77,387, and Poltava region – 76,517.

A total of 76,436 cases have been registered in Sumy region, 70,180 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 69,094 cases - in Ternopil region, 67,780 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 61,398 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 60,832 cases – in Volyn region, 56,249 cases – in Chernihiv region, 34,240 – in Kherson region, 25,856 – in Luhansk region, and 20,082 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 23, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 1,334 over May 22 to 2,183,855, and the number of deaths increased by 68 over May 22 to 49,436; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 47.3%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 23.6%.

On May 22, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 2,533 over May 21 to 2,182,521, and the number of deaths increased by 89 over May 21 to 49,368; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 45%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased twice.
