Number Of New Covid-19 Cases Up 25.5% To 5,138, Number Of New Lethal Cases Down 20.4% To 227 On May 18

On May 18, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 5,138 over May 17 to 2,165,233, and the number of deaths increased by 227 over May 17 to 48,696; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 25.5%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 20.4%.

The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the report, as of the morning of May 19, a total of 2,165,233 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine; the number included 48,696 fatal cases; 1,899,446 people had recovered.

On May 18, a total of 5,138 new disease cases were recorded, 227 people died, and 17,102 people recovered.

Therefore, as of May 18, the number of newly infected people was lower than that of those who recovered (5,138 vs 17,751).

As of the morning of May 19, the overall number of currently coronavirus-infected people in Ukraine was 217,091, down 5.3% over May 18.

Since the start of the epidemic, the largest number of coronavirus-infected people has been registered in the city of Kyiv (202,894), Kharkiv region (144,142), and Odesa region (138,195).

Besides, Lviv region has registered a total of 133,661 coronavirus infection cases, Dnipropetrovsk region – 129,878; Kyiv region – 122,807 cases, Zaporizhia region – 100,620, Donetsk region – 87,185, Khmelnytskyi region – 86,880, Zhytomyr region – 86,654, Ivano-Frankivsk region - 85,472, Cherkasy region – 79,387, Chernivtsi region – 78,568, Rivne region – 76,448, and Poltava region – 75,855.

A total of 75,838 cases have been registered in Sumy region, 69,695 cases – in Vinnytsia region, 68,562 cases - in Ternopil region, 66,752 cases - in Mykolayiv region, 61,084 cases – in Zakarpattia region, 60,073 cases – in Volyn region, 55,740 cases – in Chernihiv region, 33,518 – in Kherson region, 25,507 – in Luhansk region, and 19,818 cases – in Kirovohrad region.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 17, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 4,095 over May 16 to 2,160,095, and the number of deaths increased by 285 over May 16 to 48,469; at the same time, the number of new cases increased by 91.7%, and the number of new lethal cases rose 2.6 times.

On May 16, the number of newly-registered Covid-19 cases in Ukraine rose by 2,136 over May 15 to 2,156,000, and the number of deaths increased by 109 over May 15 to 48,184; at the same time, the number of new cases decreased by 41%, and the number of new lethal cases decreased by 18%.
